NaProTECHNOLOGY

NaProTECHNOLOGY is an emerging science of women’s healthcare created by Dr. Thomas Hilgers in response to the "Appeal to Men of Science" in Pope Paul VI's great encyclical Humane Vitae.  NaProTECHNOLOGY's approaches procreative and gynecologic health problems in a way that is both completely logical and completely revolutionary.  Unlike common suppressive and destructive approaches to women’s health, NaProTECHNOLOGY maintains the integrity of the human person, respects the dignity of women and supports the institution of marriage.  When a woman's reproductive system functions abnormally, NaProTECHNOLOGY identifies the problems and cooperates with her natural cycles to correct the underlying condition.  Women now have an opportunity to know and understand the causes of the symptoms from which they suffer.

NaProTECHNOLOGY uses the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System of Natural Family Planning to monitor a woman’s cycle (primarily by making observations in cervical mucous).  Creighton Model NFP provides information that can be interpreted by a woman and by physicians who are specifically trained in this system.  This information, along with other diagnostic testing (often including blood work, an ultrasound series to monitor ovulation and an exploratory laparoscopy), can then be used to diagnose underlying problems, including (but not limited to!) endometriosis, ovarian cysts, polycystic ovarian syndrome and abnormalities in reproductive hormones and cervical mucous.  These problems can then be addressed with medications and/or surgical procedures to help restore a woman’s health and her fertility.  In addition to diagnosing and treating problems in a woman’s reproductive cycle, NaProTECHNOLOGY can also help couples with male factor infertility.  Unlike mainstream fertility treatment, NaProTECHNOLOGY rarely leaves a couple with a diagnosis of “unexplained infertility.”  In addition to being a better approach to medicine and fully in line with Church teaching, NaProTECHNOLOGY is more cost effective and has success rates that exceed that of artificial reproductive technology for the treatment of infertility.
